Description

Cheval des Andes is an exclusive wine that blends the rich tradition of Argentine Malbec with the sophistication of a great Bordeaux. Sourced from the renowned regions of Las Compuertas and La Consulta in Mendoza, this blend of 49% Malbec, 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Petit Verdot has been meticulously aged for 13 months in French oak barrels and foudres, with 50% of the barrels being new. The collaboration between enologists Pierre-Olivier Clouet and Gérald Gabillet has resulted in a wine of exceptional complexity and balance.

This wine has received international acclaim, earning 98 points from Robert Parker, 99 points from Tim Atkin, and 97 points from James Suckling, distinguishing it among the world's finest. Its deep, brilliant red color precedes a sensory profile of ripe red fruits like plums, cherries, and cassis, complemented by spices and violets. On the palate, Cheval des Andes presents a full body with refined tannins that provide structure and a lingering finish with notes of red fruits and spices.

This wine is ideal for pairing with premium cuts of red meats, such as a grilled ribeye steak or roasted lamb rack, enhancing its tannins and fruity profile. It also pairs perfectly with more sophisticated dishes like duck breast with a red fruit reduction or braised veal osso buco. For a more delicate experience, try Cheval des Andes with aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère. Additionally, it complements game dishes such as venison stew or wild boar with herb sauce.
