History of Rhodesia
With their unique taste and their faithful companionship over so many years, this cookie have become the go-to sweets for Argentinians.
They were created by Edelmiro Carlos Rhodesia in 1949 and named in honor of Lidia Martínez de Terrabusi, a widow who had become his wife a few years earlier.
After Rhodesia passed away, 10 years later, Lidia Martínez decided to sell the company to a cousin of her late husband, José Félix Terrabusi, who in the 70s launched the Rhodesia wafer in homage to the creator of Tita. Edelmiro Rhodesia and Lidia Martínez also had a single daughter, Melba, whose name was also chosen to create their line of chocolate cookies.
