Traditional Mate Preparation

1. Fill your mate gourd about two-thirds full with yerba mate.

2. Cover the opening with your hand and shake gently to settle the contents.

3. Tilt the mate slightly to create a slope.

4. Insert the bombilla (metal straw).

5. Pour warm water (70–80°C / 158–176°F) along the side of the mate without soaking the top completely.

6. Refill with warm water and enjoy multiple infusions.
